Company founder and owner David Bloch debuted his first product, the Game Skinner—an ulu style skinning knife—at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas in January 1988. Bloch created the knife as his senior design project while attending the Colorado School of Mines. After graduating with an engineering degree in 1986, Bloch refined the design, sought out a manufacturing facility in Japan and began production.
From its humble beginnings as a one-man show with four prototype samples, Bloch’s company, Outdoor Edge, has grown significantly in the past thirty years. Currently, the company has 24 employees and offers more than 120 products. Originally based in Boulder, Colorado, the company moved to a larger facity in Denver in 2010.
