SAN ANTONIO (July 28, 2021) — Trinity Oaks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded on the premise that active participation in the outdoors is a powerful, healing, and fundamentally life-changing experience, announced today that it has named David Wootten as its Director of Partnerships and Development. In this capacity he will be responsible for all partnership sponsorships and telling the story of Trinity Oaks to corporations. The appointment is effective immediately.
Most recently, Wootten served as the Outreach and Communications Coordinator for the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program. Prior to that he held the same position with the Wounded Warrior Project. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Interactive Media and Web Design from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Wootten is a former paratrooper and combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division. In 2006 he was injured while deployed to Iraq – putting an end to his military career. Suffering from injuries, health problems and PTSD, he nearly gave up on life when he was medically retired in 2008. With the help of a retired Air Force Chaplin his life was given a new start. He was handed a bow and told to use it as therapy. Archery, along with bowhunting gave him a sense of purpose and a new mission. Serving as a peer mentor for Wounded Warrior Project from 2013-2017 , his heart shifted to being a veteran advocate focusing on getting the veteran population outdoors and into hunting. In 2017 he became a staff member with the Wounded Warrior Project in Washington DC where his veteran advocacy took off. From speaking to donors on the importance of their generosity and how their money was being used to speaking in front of congressmen about veteran’s issues, David’s passion for his fellow service members grew. David wants to help veterans, but he also wants to help everyone. His heart is for the healing of others, and he believes that starts with being outdoors. David truly loves God, his family and serving others. He is married to his high school sweetheart and loves being dad to his three children.
