NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GREEN BAY, Wis. (July 12, 2023) — Fin Rage Tackle LLC, based in Green Bay, Wisc., announced today that it has acquired the iconic fishing lure brand, Al’s Goldfish Lure Company. Former owners, Jeff and Mandy DeBuigne, owned and operated Al’s Goldfish since 2018. Jeff was recently offered a job that he could not pass up and they decided to transition the ownership of this popular fishing brand to a new owner so it could continue to grow.

“Selling Al’s is bittersweet for us because we love Al’s products and the company’s history of American manufacturing. We will always be Al’s true believers, along with many other anglers who cherish their Goldfish,” said Mandy. “We know Paul Check, owner of Fin Rage Tackle, will do great things with his vision and goals for growing and expanding the brand. We will always support Al’s and are very excited for Paul and the company’s future.”

Fin Rage Tackle LLC is poised to build upon the rich history of Al’s Goldfish Lure Company by expanding the reach of the products into the Midwest. Paul Check, owner of Fin Rage Tackle, LLC, says, “ We are excited to acquire such an iconic fishing lure brand with a long history of catching fish all over the world. We will continue to build upon the momentum that Jeff and Mandy have built in the Northeast by bringing more options and colors for the variety of fish in the Midwest as well as saltwater baits.”

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The company will be relocated to Wisconsin later this summer.

About Al’s Goldfish Lure Company

The company was launched in 1952 with a single pioneering spoon lure, known as Stuart’s Goldfish, named after founder Al Stuart. The company’s flagship lure was renamed Al’s Goldfish in 1954, and by 1973 the popularity of the Goldfish lure soared to nearly one million lures sold in a year. Along the way, other popular lures, such as the Forty-Niner and Helgy, and hook bonnet lure accessories were added to the company’s list of American-made products. In 2015 the line was expanded to include the Saltwater Goldfish series. In 2022, the company celebrated the 70-year anniversary of the Goldfish lure.
