OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. (May 29, 2024) — AG Composites, the leader in the design and production of custom rifle stocks for both hunters and precision shooters, will be sponsoring Shooting Performance Institute’s Hunter’s Challenge shooting competition on June 23, 2024, in Smith Valley, Nevada.
“The Hunter’s Challenge is a test of a shooter’s ability to make the first shot count under demanding field conditions, just like they’d face in a real-world situation,” said Jim “The Kraken” Erwin, CEO/owner of the Shooting Performance Institute and one of The Hunter’s Challenge instructors. Erwin, an AG Composites ambassador, is a veteran of the U.S. Special Operations Forces, including service in the 2nd Ranger Battalion (75th Ranger Regiment), where he received the Distinguished Honor Graduate of the U.S. Army Sniper Course, as well as services as a 1st SFOD-D (Delta) Operator. “Participants will not only test their skills but receive expert instruction from myself, as well as Dave Adams and Mike Douglas, a couple of expert long-range shooters with extreme skills. It will be a fun event you won’t want to miss.”
The Challenge fee of $350 includes lunch and consists of four stages with a total of 40 rounds or less fired at both silhouette and 3D targets. It’s limited to 32 competitors, with 10 shooters per squad, and limited to .30 caliber and under. Competitors will meet at 260 Day Ln., Smith Valley, NV 89430, at 0800 for a safety briefing before a rifle zero confirmation, with the competition beginning at 0900. “Shooters should bring the same gear they hunt with, and be ready for challenging, and most likely windy, conditions,” Erwin said.
There will be a prize table with an assortment of great products/items from big names in the hunting and shooting industry.
